COD AB standards


Administrative boundary COD (COD-AB) datasets are evaluated against established criteria. COD-AB datasets may be:

  1. Fully usable (represented by a green dot in the COD Portal)

  2. Partly usable (represented by a yellow dot in the COD Portal)

  3. Needing improvement (represented by a red dot in the COD Portal)

Some criteria apply to the entire HDX dataset and verify that:

  • the metadata, including the date, description, source, methodology are well provided

  • the dataset is unique, tagged as a COD

Other criteria apply to the individual resources and verify that:

  • the attribute fields are clearly named and arranged

  • feature names are available, if necessary as an additional field, in Latin script without special characters

  • feature names and P-codes for higher administrative levels are included in lower level resources

  • feature names within each higher administrative level feature are unique

  • P-codes are unique and include all higher administrative level P-codes

  • feature names and P-codes are compete

  • feature topology is correct

  • features nest within features at higher administrative levels

  • features cover the entire country unless explained in the metadata
