Potential CODs for Natural Disaster
The following is a list of potential CODs for an emergency. It is up to the IM network in country to identify what datasets are required as a common reference to prepare or respond to an emergency. Not all of these datasets are CODs!! To identify CODs, use the Identifying a COD flow chart
The list was created with the support of the Coordinated Data Scramble (Global Level IMWG), the analytical framework – part of MIRA), the COD workshops (Berlin, April 2017 and Geneva, June 2017).
There are 3 types of natural disasters listed here: Earthquake, Â Cyclone and Floods.
Earthquake
Core CODs
- CODs-AB (Admin boundaries at least at level 2)
- CODs-PS (Population statistics)Â
- By age
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Economic characteristics
- Household characteristics
- CODs-HP (Humanitarian Profile)
- # of people living in affected areas (available within first 12 hours after performing MMI raster analysis)
- # of people in need (available after phase II of MIRA)
- # of people displaced (by status e.g. in camps, unfinished buildings etc)
- # of people missing, injured and dead
Other country specific CODs
- MMIÂ (Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale)
- Transportation
- Road Networks
- Bridges
- Railways
- Aerodromes (airports, airfields, HLZs)
- Seaports (if relevant)

- # of people in need (available after phase II of MIRA)
- Â # of people displaced (by status e.g. in camps, unfinished buildings etc)
- # of people missing, injured and dead
Other Country Specific CODs
