Finding CODs

CODs are available for download from the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX). Approximately six hundred HDX datasets are CODs. All HDX dataset views contain a filter near the top-left for all CODs and a sub-filter for “Standard CODs” and “Enhanced CODs”. (These distinctions are described within the COD-AB, COD-EM, and COD-PS pages.)

All COD datasets visible in any HDX dataset view have a “COD” icon (for Standard CODs) or a “COD+” icon for Enhanced CODs.

HDX provides a ‘Common Operational Database’ page (found in the “PRODUCTS” pull-down near the top of any page) which is merely a dataset view of CODs held on HDX.

HDX publishes CODs as ‘datasets’ shown on individual pages that contain one or more ‘resources’ (files or external source links). HDX locations (countries or territories) may have many datasets, some of which may be CODs.

The main way to discover CODs on HDX is to reach the location’s HDX page. This can be achieved by:

  1. Entering a country name into the search bar (at top of any HDX page)

  2. Selecting a country from the Locations page (at the top of any HDX page)

  3. Directly selecting a COD dataset from the ‘Common Operational Dataset' quicklink (found in pull-down menu at the top of any HDX page).

HDX location pages list the associated HDX datasets. The number of datasets that are CODs is shown at the top-left and by a CODs ‘Refine your search’ option.
