Who We are and What We Do as Financial Tracking Service (FTS)?

Overview

Financial Tracking Service, abbreviated as “FTS”, is part of the Assessment Planning and Monitoring Branch (APMB) of the UNOCHA. FTS is a centralized platform providing up-to-date information on global humanitarian funding. It has been in service since 1992 as a follow-up to the UN General Assembly Resolution No.46/182, a resolution that created the framework for humanitarian assistance and coordination.

The FTS assists humanitarian aid-related decision-making at both political and operational level by providing updated humanitarian funding data worldwide.

The FTS is rooted in and operates in support of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) as well as the Humanitarian Program Cycle.

Given the increased demands on our service, FTS began a results-oriented transformation in early 2022 to make its service more reliable, accurate and timely while making its work modalities more simplified, standardized, and efficient. This effort will continue evolving along with the OCHA’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.  The FTS website is enabled by donors and recipients of humanitarian funds that are reporting into the service.

Humanitarian partners report either their contributions or funding received to the FTS team via e-mail (fts@un.org) by using the standardized reporting template available here: FTS Standard Reporting Template 2024 3.xlsx (live.com). These partners include but not limited to Governments, EU&ECHO EDRIS (to be phased out towards early 2025), UN Agencies, Funds and Programs, NGOs, CERF, CBPF, private sector as well as charities and foundations.

The humanitarian funding data that is reported to FTS undergoes a curation process, verification, and validation, and is then uploaded to the system with the final goal of informing humanitarian decision-making. The standard processing time varies according to the information submitted and depending on the quality of data provided.
