To activate a new site:

In a new sudden on-set a site can be activated very quickly (hours) and will normally be initiated by staff in HQ, however, the site might not be made visible until there is sufficient information on the site to be useful.  If there is a need for a site outside of a sudden onset:

Ask for support from Field Information Services (FIS) team in Istanbul or send an email to support@unocha.org to determine if a new site is needed.  Questions to consider are:

  •  How long will the site be needed?
  •  Is there a focal point for the site that will regularly update content and provide support to cluster/sector partners?
  •  What language is needed?
  •  Review other operational sites to determine how many sections the new site should have

Small (Eritrea, Guatemala) - Large (Afghanistan, DRC)

To deactivate a site:

Once a site is no longer being used or updated the site can be deactivated please contact field information services (FIS) in Istanbul or send an email to support@unocha.org
